Truanism
I primarily post LGBT "discourse", and often anti-anti/pro-shipping discourse, and random other discourse/opinons as well. Most things are queued as being on this website for too long causes cancer, so if you send me an ask/etc and I didn't see it, I wasn't online.
Right now I won't be consistenly actively posting, I'll take some breaks, but I'll pretty much always come back eventually.
I don't usually tag for slurs (q, f, d, etc) as they appear too often on this blog. I sometimes tag for certain topics, but not always (I forget).
Check about and opinions for more.
About
If you know my (real) name, don't say it on here. I give little details about myself for a reason.
If for some reason you must address me, call me by my username (truanism).
"Are you cis/trans/gay/bi/white/black/neurotypical/etc--". If something is true, it's true no matter who says it. Also, I'm not giving you ammunition to send me hate, you'll have to work for it (lol).
I've been in fandom and on tumblr for quite a while, and this isn't my first blog.
Opinions
Warning: it's long.
You need (gender/sex) dysphoria to be trans. I also believe you need the desire to transition. No, I do not think you NEED to medically transition to be trans, because I understand that not everyone lives in a country or financial situation where they can have access to hormones and surgeries, but if you're trans, you'll have the desire to. No cis person has gender dysphoria, likely their issues stem from being gnc, trauma, body dysmorphia, a misunderstanding of what dysphoria is, or other mental illness. Simply having discomfort around your body or "social role" does not constitute gender dysphoria. The lack of "feeling" like a woman alone as an afab, or "feeling" like a man as an amab does not make you trans.
"Gender" is NOT a social construct - there are "gendered" / sexed differences that exist in the brain and are biological. No, this does not mean there is strictly a single male brain or female brain, that is a simplified way of communicating the situation. Gender is derived from sexed differences, it was not a concept created we just "made up" for no reason. Gender roles are what can change based on society and time. Saying gender is a social construct does not help trans people. Trans people have a biological reason for their gender, they did not choose it. Trans people would still have dysphoria even if society was fully accepting of trans people.
Ace Exclusionist and Anti-"Ace spec/a-spec" - asexuality is real but not inherently lgbt. Additionally, the needs of the LGBT community and ace community are entirely at odds and can’t exist as one group. There is no asexuality spectrum. You either are or you aren't. ADDITONALLY, I dislike how the ace community refuses to acknowledge how someone could have problems surrounding sex/being in a relationship that have nothing to do with being asexual - such as being a literal child, or having dysphoria, or having been an abuse victim, or society's homophobia... etc, etc.
Demisexual isn’t real - as in, pretty much everyone needs “an emotional connection” before they have a relationship with someone, that doesn’t make you special and it doesn’t warrant an entire identity label.
Queer is a slur and you cannot call the entire community by it. It's not about what you call yourself. It's extremely hypocritcal to be offended by the use of words such as "tranny" and "fag" yet still forcibly call every LGBT person by a slur. It's not the "trannny community." It's not the "fag" community. So why is it the "queer community" ?
LGBT is the acronym - no pluses or other alphabet soup. It doesn't exclude anyone.
Trans and LGBT in general isn’t a personality trait - if you center your entire existence around an immutable characteristic instead of, idk, a hobby or something you’re probably boring.
LGBT isn't a fun club and does not to be opened up to include every possible human being on earth and on that note....
Hating cis people/straight people/etc does nothing to actually help LGBT people. There's nothing wrong with being straight or cis. Being LGBT doesn't make you special or better than anyone else. Yes, straight and cis people can be bigoted, but so can anyone else. And you're completely discounting the straight and cis people who could be allies and support LGBT by attacking them all. This idea that being cis or straight is bad causes people to take up all these unnecessary labels and bend over backwards to call themselves trans when they're non-dysphoric and fine with their birth sex (or "queer" when they're cishet and demisexual..) because they're so desperate to be part of the community. Why do you need to be in the community so badly? There's nothing wrong with being a cis, straight woman. There's nothing wrong with being a cis, straight man. And there's nothing wrong with simply being an ally.
No sexuality or gender is a choice No one can choose who they're attracted to or what their gender is, whatsoever. Your sexuality and gender never change, only your understanding of it does. (And for the overly literal people, that means trans men are born men and trans woman are born woman and will remain that way until they die.) And on that note...
Genital "preferences" aren’t transphobic. Though calling it a preference is strange, as it's an immutable part of someone's sexuality.
Anti-Pan and "Multi-Attraction Spectrum" - Pansexuality is an unnecessary label based in homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia. Bisexuality has always included everyone. It was never "parts not hearts." Everyone should be insulted by the implication that every other sexuality is so shallow. There is no multi-attraction spectrum.
NB skeptic - I don’t believe in the Tumblr/Twitter/internet brand of “non-binary". As a whole, I highly doubt it exists in the way it is currently being conceptualized. And I've never seen any actual scientific evidence in favor of its existence. Being "gender non conforming" doesn't make you trans. Having gender dysphoria and wanting to transition makes you trans. My biggest problem is with the large amount of (usually afab) non-binaries that have no dysphoria or desire to transiton in anyway, present completely as their birth sex, and have no discomfort whatsoever in their (birth) anatomy. I feel comfortable saying these people have nothing to do with being trans, yet they continue to speak over and demonize dysphoric people. And even those who claim to be "GNC" ... simply aren't, and still present entirely as gender conforming females. (And yes there's a difference between presenting feminine and presenting female.) I'm sympathetic to those who actually have dysphoria, or people who dislike gender roles, but I believe the non-binary identity concept is based on mistaken ideas about gender and sex.
But NB has existed for a long time in many cultures -- https://www.logicallyfallacious.com/logicalfallacies/Appeal-to-Tradition. Even if this was true (which it really isn't, because that's a vast mischaracterization of the way "third genders" worked in these cultures), many things have existed for a long time in many cultures, such as war, violence, homophobia, child abuse, and so on. That doesn't mean they're correct beliefs in any way just because some past culture believed in it.
Anti-Mogai and Microlabels - Just no.
Pronouns DO equal gender and he/him lesbians, etc, are invalid. If pronouns did not equal gender, misgendering wouldn't be a thing, and it would not be insulting to call a trans man she or a trans woman he.
Pro shipping, anti-anti. Fiction is not reality. Pretty simple. On that note, "real person fiction/shipping" is creepy as hell. Real people aren't your playthings.
Socialist/Leftist (yes, really, I feel like no one reads this part). I just don’t agree with “woke” sjw “leftism” who just want a chance to hate on white/cis/straight/etc people rather than actually improving society in any way. The focus on all these various identities only divides us.
Anti Bigotry - don't hate on someone solely because of the way they were born. This should be common sense, but apparently not.
Other misc opinions....
Man hating is childish and some people never got past their boys have cooties phase.
Anyone can have an opinion on anything. There’s nothing wrong with cis transmeds.
Pro free speech. People with the "wrong" opinions don't stop having those opinions just because they're silenced, they'll just stop being able to talk about it. The best way to improve society and understanding of issues is through open discussion. I hate the idea of having to tiptoe around a topic because it isn't the "politically correct" thing to say.
I value critical thinking and skepticism in everything. Question everything :)
I’m an atheist but I don’t talk about religion much on this blog, because I strongly dislike it.
Some other opinions that would probably make a lot of people very mad, so I won't list them here. But you can always ask me my opinon on anything, in asks or DMs. (Prefer DMs for more controversial things.)
If you've made it this far , congratulations?
